To combat this costly deterioration TrendTek offers the "Corroshield" line of gel protected plugs and sockets. The presence of an inert, memory retaining gel within the socket allows the plug to be inserted and to be sealed while in contact. When the plug is removed the gel returns to protect the otherwise exposed contacts.

Corro-Shield ™ connectors are designed to help you significantly reduce service calls through increased connector reliability.
During manufacture, a specially formulated Raychem GelGuard ™ gel is applied to the connector opening, completely surrounding the gold contact wires.

When the cord is inserted, the gel forms an airtight seal around the connection, preventing corrosion and contact problems. When the line cord plug is pulled out of the connector, the gel will return to the connector cavity in its original position.

The gel's memory characteristics make it especially valuable in telecom applications where insertion and reinsertion of the line cord can be a frequent occurrence. The memory effect makes the gel easy to work with and is highly reliable. Technicians install Corro-Shield ™ connectors just as they always have …… no special tools or training required.
